Site Grading and Level Management
One of the main objectives of this project was to rethink the property’s different elevations to create an outdoor space that is both functional and cohesive. As part of this approach, the terrace was expanded to incorporate access to the lower-level garage. The primary challenge was managing an elevation change of approximately 3 feet between the garage door and the new terrace level.
The surface combines existing pavers that were carefully reused with new materials selected to ensure a seamless visual transition. A linear drain is planned in front of the garage door to promote efficient water drainage. Large natural boulder retaining walls define the changes in elevation, while a generous maneuvering area provides comfortable access and ease of movement.
Pool Area
The terrace extension required the temporary removal of the pool and its surrounding fence. This area has been temporarily re-covered with grass and will become accessible again via new steps connecting the terrace to the pool. A clean, minimal approach that matches the peaceful ambiance of the space.
Circulation and Access
All access points between the different levels have been redesigned, with stairs linking the garage to the pool, and others leading to the main garage door. Everything has been planned to allow for smooth, enjoyable movement throughout the yard.
Vegetation and Ambiance
A few plantings soften the descent toward the garage, adding greenery without overwhelming the space. Ambient lighting has been added at the base of mature trees, subtly highlighting their silhouettes at dusk. In the long term, conifers will be added along the property line to enhance privacy.
